Biography
Computer Engineer, Master's and PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology, with emphasis in Bioinformatics, from the Federal University of Pará (UFPA). He works as an Associate Professor III at the Faculty of Biotechnology of the Institute of Biological Sciences at UFPA, developing teaching, research, innovation and academic management activities. He is a permanent advisor and collaborator in excellent postgraduate programs, including the Postgraduate Program in Bioinformatics at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (CAPES 7), the Postgraduate Program in Genetics and Molecular Biology at UFPA (CAPES 7), Electrical Engineering (CAPES 6) at UFPA and Biotechnology (CAPES 5), with a focus on computational intelligence applied to biological, environmental and engineering sciences. He has solid experience in human resource development, with 21 undergraduate research supervisions, 10 undergraduate theses, 14 master's dissertations and 5 completed doctoral theses. He has supervised four completed postdoctoral internships and currently mentors two postdoctoral researchers. He has a significant and consistent scientific output, with over 170 articles published in journals indexed in databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. He has accumulated over 2,200 citations in these databases and over 3,700 citations in Google Scholar. He coordinates and participates in several research projects funded by national and international agencies, including CNPq, CAPES, FAPESPA, and SECTET, focusing on genomics and metagenomics of microorganisms, environmental monitoring, antimicrobial resistance in water bodies, and the integration of molecular data with environmental sensors. Notable projects include those focused on monitoring Amazonian rivers, bioprospecting microbial biodiversity, analyzing environmental resistomes, and developing strategies based on computational intelligence to support the management of water quality and natural resources. He maintains consolidated international scientific collaborations with researchers and institutions in Latin America, North America, and Europe, including collaborations with universities and research centers in the Dominican Republic, Germany, and Portugal, resulting in bilateral projects, joint publications, and the training of human resources at an international level. His scientific work is interdisciplinary and focuses on the development and application of computational methods for the analysis of complex biological and environmental systems, including bioinformatics and computational biology, environmental monitoring using culture-independent molecular methods, omics data integration, the Internet of Things (IoT), machine learning, and the development of computational platforms. He was an Affiliate Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences from 2018 to 2022, served as Coordinator of the Microbial Genetics and Bioinformatics Area of the Brazilian Society of Microbiology between 2020 and 2023, and is a CNPq research productivity fellow at the PQ-1D level. She also works on strategic projects with the Guamá Foundation, contributing to the integration of biotechnology, information technologies, innovation, and public policies, with a focus on strengthening the science, technology, and innovation ecosystem in the Amazon.
